CHEF'S TABLE Restaurant by Chef Bruce Lim



We've recently visited one of Chef Bruce Lim's perfection restaurant, The CHEF'S TABLE. Name literally by his profession Chef Bruce Lim made this fine dining restaurant which you feel VIP right from the very front of the vicinity. To table wares, table cloth, waiters in tuxedos, a full array of cutlery and  we felt like a celebrity dining in with a full range of privacy. It absolute reflects the personality of the celebrity chef, who is in his own right a bundle of philosophical juxtapositions.

As we entered the place we were welcomed by a charming restaurant staff and greeted at the door as they take our  reservation and escorted to the assigned table. Our seat has a clear view of the kitchen so we can see the busy activity in the kitchen and observed the preparation of our food the way VIP's would at an authentic chef's table.Chef Bruce Lim says "People can see what you're doing, you're putting on a show for everyone who comes and always do it with a smile.If you're freaking out and going crazy, people will know something's wrong."


Then our plate started to arrived and it contains food so beautifully decorated we started to stare at each other because we have no idea where to start eating. To know what I mean, here's the photos of what I am wanting to impart on you guys....To start-off, appetizers was served and set the ball rolling is the HOT ROCK PUSIT (250Php) a beer-marirated squid pressed between hot rocks served with spinach. The squid so tender and is well marinated so delicious to taste,my tip..wrapped it with veggies when you eat it.


CEBUANA CHILI CHICKEN WINGS (210Php) a lightly buttered deep fried chicken wings with Cebu-inspired sweet chili sauce. It so crispy as you burst the chicken and the juice of the chicken well blended into butter.


DAVAO SALAD (310Php) is a mixed of greens tossed in durian vinaigrette topped with pan seared tuna Davao fruits and vegetables. Now you don't have to visit Davao City to taste more of it.



CALAMANSI TUYO SPAGHETTI (210Php) is a fusion dish, combination of Itallian and Filipino dish rolled into one unique food with a distinct taste only Chef Bruce can make.


We also tried their famous soups like the TOMATO ROASTED HALAAN (210Php) a fresh halaan steamed in lambanog combined with a rich roasted tomato puree and the REVERSED SOTANGHON SOUP (150Php) a fried sotanghon noodles in a savory classic french onion soup topped with crispy liempo bites. Both kept me going from eating and get ready for the main course.


BINAGOONGANG BABOY (380Php) is a soft and crispy pork belly sauteed in shrimp paste sauce and it is served with grilled eggplant. TORTANG TALONG is one of the must try and my favorite it is served with salted eggs that's why it has a taste that will make ask for more rice. BRAISED LIEMPO is a belly part of pork slowly braised in a sweet-spiced humba sauce served with stir fried mustasa best with any other rice yummm..CHICKEN SAT ON SALT 450Php one of Chef's Table's chicken roasted to perfection the juiciest meat I ever tasted compatible also with home made "atsara" or vinegar.


All of it will not be a perfect experience without combining it with their served rice like the Steamed (35Php), Aligue (65Php), Garlic (55Php) and the Bagoong (55Php) rice.


Ending it with Chef's Table's best line of desserts, as such, BUKO PIE MARTINI (150Php) taste the classic buko pie with a twist only Chef Lim can make. MANGO CHEESE CAKE (180Php) a rich and creamy cheesecake topped with fresh mangoes in butterscotch sauce (180Php) and the BANANA MANGO JUBILEE a sumptuous combination of local fruit flamed up with rum and finished finish with vanilla ice cream (130Php).


Tried their special prepared mocktails and ice teas like the CHEF"S STAR (150Php) a perfect blend of fresh mangoes, heavy cream and lemongrass extract topped with black gulaman.


and Cocktails like for example the BARAKO'S PRIDE  (180Php) in which you will discover the perfect taste of brewed coffee combined with pineapple and calamansi juice, Kahlua and lambanog.

That's it, In spite of all the philosophies that thread throughout the menu, ambience and his personality, Bruce brings his #1 philosophy to Chef’s Table focus on a beautifully-choreographed kitchen, technique and consummate dishes is what makes Chef’s Table great. The complexity of Bruce’s ideas made into a beautiful dining experience – this is the defining factor of Chef’s Table.
